Science and technology affect every aspect of our lives in the 21st century.  The decisions made by Government on what new areas of scientific research should be allowed and how new technologies should be used are crucial not only to the UK’s future prosperity – but just as importantly, to how we want society as a whole to develop in the future. 

Public trust in how scientific research is carried out and controlled and how new technologies are exploited to help drive the country’s economic performance are therefore vital.

Public dialogue provides a way for the Government, scientists and businesses to understand what people think of new scientific developments and what they feel is, and isn’t acceptable.
