Sciencewise-ERC public engagement activities
Sciencewise-ERC profiles existing public engagement activities
Following on from a series of public facing pilot activities, Sciencewise-ERC will be featuring a small selection of public engagement activities and topics taking place in UK science centres. Particular focus will be given to the discussion and debate surrounding these topics, and Sciencewise-ERC invites people to contribute their views and opinions.

Pilot activities with the Science Museum and the Association for Science and Discovery Centres
Through Sciencewise-ERC's recent work and interaction with the public, we have learnt that there is real interest in the public helping to shape and contribute towards UK science and technology policy. We have developed a series of pilots with key partners such as the Science Museum and the UK's Association for Science and Discovery Centres, who have an existing public facing remit, and who already successfully engage with the general public. These pilots will enable Sciencewise-ERC to evaluate if working with such public facing partners is an effective way to gain public feedback on key issues, as well as evaluating what types of events could potentially gain the most valuable feedback for policy makers on key issues for the future.
One of the featured events will also raise the debate on whether there is an appetite for a public panel, and will explore what this could mean, what role it could have and whether the idea offers any value to the future of science and technology policy making. The feedback from this event will be provided to Government as considerations for the future direction of Sciencewise-ERC.

Pilot activities with the British Science Association
Sciencewise-ERC has also been working with the British Science Association on another public engagement pilot project - SciDemocracy: Science, policy and public events.
SciDemocracy aims to gather opinions from existing public engagement events and feed them back to policy makers in a useful, constructive way.
