Research Councils UK (RCUK) commitment to identifying and listening to public views is outlined in the RCUK Public Engagement with Research Strategy.
RCUK has a good deal of experience of public dialogues; multiple independent dialogues have now been conducted around major RCUK research areas: e.g. energy, nanotechnology, geoengineering, synthetic biology.

Aims and Objectives
To examine the RCUK dialogues to identify the common features of public response that are evidently replicated across multiple and variable dialogue contexts
The key objectives for the project are:
• To examine the RCUK dialogues to identify and confirm the key findings in terms of public perceptions and concerns.
• To characterise these findings, including issues that are common and differing between the different research contexts, and explore in depth the possible reasons for such commonalities and differences
