Public views on synthetic biology
This report summarises public views on the topic of synthetic biology across the past five years. It provides an analysis of key outcomes and trends; it also gives an overview of possible gaps in our current knowledge about what the public think of synthetic biology and why.
Interest in the field of synthetic biology is progressing at a rapid rate, and will continue to do so. Public dialogues, as well as stakeholder discussions and the UK Synthetic Biology Roadmap recognise that a key challenge will be one of regulation and how it keeps abreast of the developing technology. Such a challenge also applies to gathering, monitoring and responding to public views.
