Health & Wellbeing

This area encompasses a wide range of technologies that aid in the assessment of human health (physical and mental). Disciplines such as medicine, surgery, and psychiatry, underpinned by knowledge in areas of science such as microbiology, pharmacology, genetics (e.g. embryology research), the social sciences, and increasingly areas such as materials science, nanotechnology and electronics can assist in disease prevention, cure, mitigation, or adaptation. Wider issues concern wellbeing, for example how the UK will cope with an ageing population and topics such as addiction and brain science.
