National Science & Engineering Week

British Science Association

11 - 20 March 2011

In recognition of this year’s National Science & Engineering Week, Sciencewise will be featuring the activities of several different selected events taking place around the UK.

Each of the featured events explores this year’s theme of ‘communication’ within the context of a different science and engineering topic.

Feeding into Sciencewise’s pilot project to explore different mechanisms for gathering public views, Sciencewise will be inviting all visitors to the site to engage with and comment on the featured NSEW events taking place and vote on the issues they think are important.

The feedback gathered during this period will be collated and reviewed for the purposes of better informing policy makers on public views in regards to science and engineering matters.

Sciencewise will review the value and benefits that undertaking activities such as this offer, which will help determine mechanisms that are best for engaging with the public.

Going forward, beyond the pilot stage, findings and feedback gained will be related back to policy makers, helping to create better policy.
