Armchair Involvement

The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement recently launched the website Armchair Involvement, which is a practical quide to using technology to engage people in health service improvement.

The website can be used to find:

  • descriptions of different types of technology
  • interactive examples of where technology has been used to involve and engage people in health
  • the benefits and potential pitfalls of using technology to engage people

The website provides an opportunity for the public to express their views. Also, users can share own exampes of where they have used technology to engage staff, patients, carers, service users and the public.

Armchair Involvement is the result of a process initiated in 2007 where key thinkers and leading experts from health, information, television, multimedia, horizon-scanning, telecommunications and service design came together to discuss what technologies are available today and what tomorrow's world will look like. The NHS finds the future possibilities for participatory technologies very exciting and is enthusiastic to continue using these tools to reach people. Click here to explore Armchair Involvement.
